To mark World Malaria Day 2025, the RBM Partnership to End Malaria has developed a Messaging Framework and Social Media Toolkit to support partners, organisations, and individuals in raising awareness and advocating for a malaria-free world.
Since 2000, global efforts to control malaria have prevented an estimated 2.2 billion cases and 12.7 million deaths. In 2023 alone, more than 177 million cases and 1 million deaths were averted globally—most significantly in the WHO African Region, which accounted for 80% of cases and 94% of deaths averted.
Progress continues: in 2023, 47 of the 83 malaria-endemic countries reported fewer than 10,000 cases, and to date, 45 countries and 1 territory have been certified malaria-free by WHO.
These achievements remind us that with sustained political commitment, adequate financing, strong multisectoral collaboration, and community leadership, malaria elimination is within reach.

- Re-energize efforts at all levels, from global policy to community action, to accelerate progress towards malaria elimination.
- Advocate for increased investment in malaria control and elimination programmes, including through stepped-up domestic financing and successful replenishments for the Global Fund and Gavi in 2025.
- Promote innovative strategies and approaches to tackle evolving challenges in malaria.
- Prioritize country ownership, actively engage communities, and implement data-driven strategies.
